Fishing at Waipu Cove

Yet another photo of Steve - you can barely see him on the rocks. He is certainly keen!

Waipu Cove

Over Anniversary Weekend we went to Waipu Cove - a great beach. We were with my sister Katrina and her friends. Jordan had a great day - lots of snorkelling, collecting Kina - sea urchins, sunbathing and swimming. (Jordan is Katrina's Boyfriend's Cousin)

Ruakaka Beach - Again!

Steve, Ricky, Clare and I at Ruakaka Beach - Steve lighting his fag! A very warm Auckland / Northland Anniversary Weekend. Ricky and Clare came to stay in the caravan with us.

Dinner with Katie

Katie cam for dinner last week. Here are few photos - Dad cooking on the Barbie and Steve getting stuck into the salt and pepper - couldn't wait to start!!

Ruakaka Suf Beach

Us lazing in the sun - I finally tore him away from the fishing!!!!

Rugby Union - Auckland Blues vs Queensland Reds

We went to the amazing Whangarei Stadium to watch a rugby game - I don't remember the score though!!! No seats - we sat on the grass!!!! Not quite the same as the home of the mighty U's!!!

Some bloke in front of me stepped back onto my toe - nearly crushing it with my poor jandals offering no protection!! He gave me a free ticket to get in - jammy. I had to get the first round of tinnys - good old Tui Lager!!!!

Ocean Beach, Northland

We visited Ocean Beach with Ricky and Clare - boys fished from the rocks and the girls sunbathed, collected mussels and went swimming.

The Stingray!

Steve battled with this stingray for about 30 mins at Oceans Beach - fishing off the rocks. He eventually lost it - line snapped. It was approx 2 metres across - I've never seen anything that big!!!!!!

Kite Fishing - Clinks Gully, Northland

Jason and Cindy took us Kite Fishing for the day. A long line with 25 hooks is taken out to sea 5/6 miles by a kite - a strong north-easterly wind is needed!!! After 40mins you use the engine to wind it back it.

Kite Fishing - Some of Our Catch

Great results - a shark, a huge Kingfish and lots of snapper and kawhai. It was a great day.

Steve's 26lb Snapper!!!!!

Steve caught this snapper on a mates boat in Doubtless Bay Northlnd. It took about 20mins to land it - rod only cost about £40 - we've had not end of snapper for dinner. This 26lb snapper is being mounted for our wall - yet to get a house though!!!!

The Lucky Fisherman

Steve is the envy of the locals who have fished these waters for years - the pom has quite rep now especially after being in NZ for only 6 days!!! People touching him for luck - about 30/40 people crowding around our campsite!!!

John and Shirley's Caravan at Ruakaka

This is where we eat and spend the day. Our tent is only for sleeping while the whole family is up here. They even do our washing!!!!! We don't have enough camping equipment on our own to survive!
